Ativan generic belongs to one of these drugs. This medication belongs to the group of benzodiazepine tranquilizers, has a wide effect on the nervous system and mental condition of the patient, quickly eliminates disturbing symptoms, but has a lot of contraindications and side effects.

Indications for use

Anxiety (including related depression), sleep disorders due to anxiety or transient stressful situation, neuroses and neurosis-like states, panic disorder; endogenous psychoses: mania, catatonic state, anxiety and arousal in schizophrenia; acute delirium tremens; premedication in anesthesia; epilepsy (in combination therapy), epileptic status; symptomatic convulsive states; psychosomatic disorders and headaches.

Overdose may cause:

Stupor, reduced reflexes, paradoxical excitement, confusion, increased drowsiness, nystagmus, ataxia, dysarthria, deep sleep, tremor, coma, depression of cardiac and respiratory systems, collapse, drop in blood pressure, shortness of breath, bradycardia.

It is recommended to immediately hold forced diuresis; flumazenil is used as an antidote. Haemodialysis is not effective.
