Avelox is an antibiotic drug of the fluoroquinolone group. The active ingredient of the antibiotic is moxifloxacin, which is active against broad spectrum of bacteria that do not exhibit sensitivity to drugs from other groups. The treatment with Avelox is held in case of infections caused by gram-positive and gram-negative organisms, anaerobic microbes, as well as, Mycoplasma, Legionella, chlamydia and so on. Typically, such therapy is indicated in bacterial lesions of the respiratory organs – sinusitis, pneumonia, bronchitis. Also it is taken in cases of the diseases where infectious-inflammatory process is localized in the soft tissues or the skin.

The peculiarity of this drug is that it is very rapidly absorbed, and its bioavailability is relatively high (91%). Avelox got good reviews due to the fact that it quickly begins to act (about several hours), and the effect is noticeable after three days of regular use.

Avelox is produced in the form for oral reception, that is, in the form of tablets and in the form for parenteral intake – intravenous drip-feed. The instruction of the drug lists solutions on the basis of which the dropper with the antibiotic is made – saline solution, glucose, water for injections and so on. The use of Avelox is recommended only to adults of full age who are not suffering from individual hypersensitivity to drugs of this group. Method of Avelox use

Avelox pills are taken once a day regardless of the meal, without chewing. The standard dosage is 400 mg. The course of treatment can range from 7 to 10 days, depending on the specifics of the disease. This drug is well tolerated in case of adherence to the prescribed dosage. Possible temporary side effects are nausea, diarrhea, palpitations, etc. that take place after the end of the course.
