Indications for use
Doctors prescribe Cordarone for getting rid of an attack of paroxysmal tachycardia and ventricular on not ventricular paroxysmal tachycardia or (in the case of high frequency of ventricular contractions). In addition, this medication may be used for the prophylaxis of atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation, and not ventricular paroxysmal tachycardias.
The dosage regime
Doctors usually prescribe 700-800 mg of a drug a day, divided into 3-4 reception. Approximately two weeks later, when the number of accepted Cordarone is 10 g, specialists prescribe a maintenance dose which is 3 mg/kg of body weight, however no more than 400 mg/day.
As for the injection solution, adults take 5 mg/kg, and the drug is injected slowly over three minutes. The repeated injection may be administered after 15 minutes. Kids from the age of three take the drug at a dosage of 5 mg/kg. You shouldn’t mix Cordarone with other drugs in a single syringe.
Pills of this remedy are not prescribed to individuals with allergy to iodine and amiodarone, people with thyroid dysfunction, hypokalemia, pulmonary disease and heart failure. Besides, this medicine is forbidden to lactating mothers, pregnant women and children under eighteen.
Solution Cordarone is not appointed in the case of sinoatrial heart block, the weakness of the sinus node, with sinus bradycardia, as well as with all of the above conditions.
