Decadron is intended for the oral use. The pills are available in two dosages: 0.5 mg and 0.75 mg. This drug includes such inactive components as magnesium stearate, lactose, calcium phosphate and starch. It belongs to the group of synthetic adrenocortical steroid. This pill looks like white crystalline powder that has no smell and doesn’t get dissolved in the water.
Indications for use
Decadron is a drug, used for the treatment of certain diseases related to the adrenal gland functions and serious inflammation caused by the following diseases: rheumatoid arthritis, allergic reactions, asthma, ulcerative colitis, blood diseases, disseminated sclerosis, lupus, some eye and skin diseases.
Decadron acts by reducing or preventing the tissues from reacting to the inflammation. The drug can also change the body reaction to act as immune stimulator. It can reduce swellings caused by tumors and can be used for the treatment of cancer.

However, the dosage of Decadron can range from 0.75mg to 9mg according to the kind of patient’s disease. The dosage is prescribed individually depending on the diseases and the reaction to the drug.
Decadron must be taken orally. People with indigestion can take it with a glass of liquid or meal. If the doctor recommends using it once a day, you should take the pill in the morning.

The adverse effects can be predictive with regards to their duration and start. The adverse effects of Decadron are reversible and will go away after the end of the treatment. You can experience changes of blood pressure, muscle fatigue, acid reflux, anger, increased appetite, ankle and feet edema. Other adverse effects are: vertigo, mood swings, head pain and bone-thinning disease.
The drugs interacting with Decadron
Taking certain non-prescription drugs, herbal additives or other prescription medicines can be harmful for your health and cause adverse reactions. Don’t take Aspirin during the treatment with Decadron unless it is prescribed by your doctor. Some medicines able to interact with Decadron are contraceptives, cancer drugs, blood thinners, etc. Talk to your doctor before starting the treatment with these drugs.
