Dutas (which is a brand name of Dutasteride) belongs to the group of 5-alpha reductase inhibitors, preventing the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and acts by improving the urine flow. The medicine has powerful androgenic properties. This drug was created for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Use

Dutas is used for the treatment of enlarged prostate (also called “benign prostatic hyperplasia”). The drug works by reducing the size of the prostate, that prevents the prostate from pressing against the bladder, thereby alleviating urinary irritations. This action helps to relieve the symptoms of benign prostate hyperplasia, such as urination frequency, incontinence, etc. The use of these pills can remove the need for a surgery to treat benign prostate hyperplasia.
Moreover, Dutas is used to prevent hair loss and promote hair regrowth in men suffering from male pattern baldness.

Dosage

Dutas is available in capsules containing 0.5 mg of the main substance. You should take the drug orally. Swallowing the capsule whole with water.
Dutas can be taken irrespective of the mealtime. It is advised to take only 1 pill a day.
Adults must take 0.5 mg of Dutas a day and can continue the treatment according to the doctor’s recommendations. However, you can note the significant improvements only in 3-6 months.
Take Dutas on a regular basis and avoid changing the dosage without the doctor’s approval. The drug is absorbed from the digestive tract and achieves its maximum concentration in 1-3 hours.

Adverse effects
