Drug Description

Seroflo is a combination of Fluticasone and Salmeterol. This medicine belongs to the group of synthetic corticosteroids and selective and long-acting beta2-adrenergic receptor agonist. As this medicine has two active ingredients, it has various effects on the patient’s health. This is an anti-inflammatory drug. It has a lasting period of at least 12 hours.


Seroflo is used for the treatment of asthma. Seroflo Inhaler is intended for the patients who have used various combination drugs and inhalers, but didn’t note any improvement.
Seroflo is also used for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) of different severity.
Fluticasone available in the medicine is used to prevent inflammation, which is the main reason for asthma. Salmeterol in the drug allows you to relax the muscles available in the lung airway, and therefore extends the airways. The active components of the drug are released in the lung bronchioles. This drug improves the liver function and decreases the symptoms of asthma.

The use of Seroflo Inhaler

Take Seroflo twice a day (in the morning and in the evening). The dosage is individual and depends on severity of the diseases and the patient’s age. Shake the inhaler properly before using. Avoid exhaling on the device. Put the mouth piece in between the lips and breathe through mouth. It is essential to hold the breath for several minutes. Remove the mouth piece from the mouth and close it with the cover. Exhale gently.
Avoid taking another puff of inhaler if you didn’t feel the taste of the drug. Carefully wash your mouth. Follow these instructions every time you inhale this drug. Tell your physician if you have tuberculosis, diabetes, pulmonary infections and cardiovascular diseases.
Seroflo must be used only for the time period prescribed by the doctor. If you skipped the dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s already time to take the next dose, skip it and take only the scheduled one.

Adverse Effects

The use of this drug can cause some serious adverse effects: pain and irritation in the throat, head pain, increased heart rate, muscle seizures, cramps, bruises, etc.
The adverse effects of Seroflo Inhaler are related only to the certain components of the drug and not their combination. However, they are usually minor. But if you note serious symptoms, you should seek immediate medical assistance.
The side effects of Seroflo can be observed and noted down to explain them clearly to your doctor.


Sometimes, too high level of Fluticasone can cause the drug interactions. To prevent them, you should inform the doctor about any other medicine you use (prescription and non- prescription pills, herbal drugs and vitamins), as they can increase the levels of some chemicals. Azole antifungals, Cobicistat, Nefazodone, Telithromycin should not be taken together with Seroflo. Ask the doctor about any drugs you’re taking to avoid drug interactions.
