Description

Zithromax is an azalide antibiotic, which is part of the macrolide group, as, for example, and erythromycin. On active active substance – azithromycin.  The action of zithromax is described as bacteriostatic – that is, this drug has the ability to suppress the multiplication of microorganisms. However, if the concentrations of the antibiotic reach certain values – it is able to destroy bacteria, that is, to show bactericidal action. Zithromax treatment is possible with infectious diseases, which are caused by various microorganisms – gram-negative (gardnerelles, legionella, etc.), intracellular (chlamydia, spirochetes, mycoplasmas). Including Helicobacter pylori, which cause ulcer of the stomach, are sensitive to this drug. However, if microorganisms are resistant to erythromycin, they will not respond to zithromax therapy.

The main group of diseases in which this drug is prescribed are genitourinary infections – gonorrhea, syphilis, bacterial prostatitis. Zithromax isn’t less important for the treatment of infections of the respiratory tract, stomach, skin and so on.
Zithromax is released in capsules. The drug’s instruction emphasizes that the high activity of this antibiotic allows the use of single daily doses and significantly reduces the treatment over time. You can not combine zithromax with food, as this reduces its digestibility. Capsules are taken before meals (per hour) or after (no earlier than two hours). Tables of standard treatment regimens for certain diseases show that the maximum duration of the course is five days with a single capsule intake per day.
